Mr Mearza has a strong interest in charitable ophthalmic work and has been on numerous trips abroad helping some of the world’s most needy people.
His interest in charitable work began in 2001 with a visit to India. This was followed by subsequent trips to Bali, Burma, Madagascar, Bangladesh and most recently Ghana restoring sight to patients afflicted with cataracts.
